Think Green

How can we reconcile the temporary, short-term nature of events with the need for a sustainable, long-term approach to managing natural resources?

This duty of responsibility has been central to GL events' concerns for a long time. This is why the Group launched the ambitious "Think Green" programme in 2009, involving some fifteen commitments engaging action across every component of the event life-cycle, from design, purchasing, and logistics to energy management and, of course, the thorny issue of waste when dismantling installations at the end of an event.

Team training in eco-design, organisation of eco-friendly events or responsible purchasing, product innovation in terms of carpets, eco-designed stands and lighting, work on optimising the logistics supply chain and travel, as well as responsible building management through the ISO 14001 certification project for French reception venues. In September 2011, in order to support these processes and incite other stakeholders to embrace actions aimed at reducing environmental impacts, the Group signed a framework agreement with ADEME (the French Environment and Energy Management Agency).


This programme, involving all the professions and departments in the company, has several key objectives: to adapt and develop our professions in relation to changing market needs and technologies, to integrate environmental issues in the management process, to drive innovation, and to create value.
